Connection. That’s one of the first words that comes to mind when I think of figure drawing. Connection to movement as the model’s muscles strain and I feel my own motion as my hand moves around the page. Awareness of the muscles in my own body as I draw the human form. Connection as my hands become nearly as charcoaly as the paper.
